summer school: Environmental hazards and sustainable development in mountain regions
The Institute of Geography in collaboration with the National Committee for Global Environmental Change and Romanian Association of Geomorphology organizes annually an International Summer School on "Natural Hazards and Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions".
The event is addressed to young researchers, MSc and PhD students from Romania and the European countries whose interests focus on the relations between geomorphological processes and the environment.
Initiated in 2001, the International Summer School has reached the 10th edition, thus becoming a well-known programme in Romania and in some profile institutes and universities of Central and Eastern Europe.
Until now, this event was attended by 150 young researchers from institutes and universities of Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Turkey, Sweden, Israel, Belgium, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania.
Main topics: flash floods, mudflows, landslides, erosion, fluviatile relief, seismic activity.
